In this DIY series, we show you simple, cost-effective and creative ways of turning the old into new or adding a little pretty into your home or wardrobe without breaking the bank. We all know shopping is great but there is a little something special about looking at something and knowing you've made it with your own two hands.
This week: DIY T-Shirt Dress!
Spring has arrived in Australia and we can finally shave our pasty legs (thanks winter!), put on a dress and get a little tan going! We don't know about you but we definitely won't be missing winter. We're completely in our element tanning on the beach which is why for today's DIY we're showing you how to make your own t-shirt dress. Perfect as a throw over on top of your bikini at the beach!
You'll need it:
- A t-shirt a couple of sizes too big for you
- Sharp pair of scissors
- Measuring tape
- Marker
- Mark out all the areas that need to be cut.
- Cut the t-shirt just below your ribs to get two pieces and cut the sleeves to turn them into cap sleeves.
- Create two triangle cut outs for both halves of the t-shirt. Make the top half of the cutout about 5cm long and the bottom half cutout about 7 cm long.
- Then cut out a small hole in the bottom middle of the top half of the t-shirt and create a slit about 6.5cm long in the top middle of the bottom half of the t-shirt.
- Take the slits and tie them together through the holes both in the front and back of the t-shirt.
- Even out any uneven edges and you’re ready to show off your DIY Cutout T-shirt Dress!
